Watch Party and Panel Discussion

Around the world, a woman dies every two minutes from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Linda Mama, a publicly funded health scheme in Kenya, is turning the tide, providing basic health services to pregnant women and infants for free, saving the lives of women and children across the country.

In Port Reitz, the setting of our new short film "Why Policy Matters: Free Maternal Healthcare in Kenya Saves Lives," maternal deaths fell by 64 percent and newborn deaths by 87 percent just two years after Linda Mama was introduced.

Join us November 10 for a virtual watch party of the film, followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Isabel Maina, Division Head, Health Financing, Ministry of Health; Dr. Shem Pata, Director of Health for Mombasa County; and Stephen Muchiri, HP+ Senior Advisor, and moderated by Regina Ombam, HP+’s Regional Director for Kenya and East Africa.

Also, be sure to check out our stories page to learn more about our Why Policy Matters series.
