Partnering with Faith Leaders in Mali to Confront Gender-Based Violence
Hosted by: Seydou Traore and Sara Stratton
In Mali, where almost half of women say they have experienced some form of violence in their lives, over 95 percent of the population report belonging to a mosque or church, prompting the question: How can religious leaders get involved to help improve the lives of women in Mali? For the past five years, HP+ has partnered with religious leaders to confront the often-taboo issue of gender-based violence and determine what their sacred texts say about violence against women. Join this session to learn how HP+ partnered with religious leaders to develop tools they could use to counter gender-based violence in their communities and improve the health and well-being of women.
