Implementing Policy from the National to the Local Level

One of HP+'s strongest capabilities is understanding the policy environment and engaging the right players to ensure that evidence-based policies are enacted throughout a country. This session will explore examples from several countries where HP+, or the earlier Health Policy Project, initiated support at the policy development stage and continued support throughout implementation and monitoring. HP+ will discuss how we generated evidence and advocacy materials, engaged multisectoral stakeholders, and strengthened the capacity of policy champions to improve accountability, expand access to health services, and achieve sustainable results. Through the lens of two key policy areas—youth in Malawi and costed implementation plans for family planning in West Africa—speakers will showcase the innovative approaches HP+ led at different levels and across sectors to carry vital policies from development through implementation.
