Combating HIV-Related Stigma and Discrimination in Health Facilities: Impressive Results from Ghana and Tanzania

HIV stigma has been identified as a barrier to HIV testing; status disclosure and partner notification; access, retention, and adherence to antiretroviral therapy; and access and adherence to pre-exposure prophylaxis in various countries—making stigma a major barrier to the achievement of HIV epidemic control.

In October 2018, USAID's Office of HIV and AIDS held a webinar to share successful HIV stigma-reduction interventions and tools. One of the interventions highlighted was HP+’s Total Facility Approach, aimed at addressing stigma among healthcare providers. This presentation, shared during the webinar, introduces readers to HP+’s stigma-reduction approach and results.
