Like many countries worldwide, Madagascar is defining its approach to universal health coverage, of which a critical part will be public financing for health. This technical brief documents findings from a comprehensive analysis of available data on public financing for health between 2013–2017 in Madagascar. Strengths and challenges at national and regional levels are identified and possible solutions to bottlenecks are proposed.
