In an effort to see national-level health priorities implemented at the local level in Malawi, traditional leaders across the country are using by-laws both to encourage and discourage specific behaviors at the community level. To provide clarity on the community by-laws that currently exist and their perceived consequences, HP+ undertook an assessment of the use of community by-laws related to maternal and child health, family planning, and sexual and reproductive health in Malawi.
