Cost of Transition to Self-Reliance in Lao PDR’s National HIV Response: Results from an Analysis

As Lao PDR reaches lower-middle-income status, its HIV program will need to transition away from donor funding and integrate into the broader health system. To inform stakeholders of the program’s funding requirements, HP+ estimated funding needed under three scenarios: one of which sustains current gains made in the HIV response and two that improve performance through the 2019–2030 transition period. In order to meet the country’s goals laid out in its national strategy, additional domestic investment will be required for commodities, including antiretroviral drugs, and increased outreach support will need to be provided by civil society organizations.
