On May 13, 2021, HP+ convened family planning, gender, and family planning financing experts to discuss how to better integrate gender into family planning and health financing systems to make access to family planning information and services more gender-equitable for all clients. Through review of a position paper ahead of the convening, a panel discussion, and small group discussion, participants developed recommendations and practical next steps with this goal in mind. This brief provides a summary of the meeting, including key takeaways, to advance dialogue and find common ground for including a gender lens in family planning financing, recognizing that gender is one of multiple factors that inhibit many individuals’ access to family planning.
