This report presents findings from an analysis of Mali’s provider payment system under the mandatory health insurance scheme. HP+ assessed the extent that various aspects of the payment system promote universal health coverage principles, are in line with international benchmarks and strategic purchasing principles, and promote or impede Mali’s progress toward key health sector objectives. A wide range of stakeholders, including the Association of Malian Municipalities, the National Health Insurance Fund, the Federation of the Community Health Associations, the Ministry of Health and Social Development, professional associations, and the private sector reviewed the findings and provided feedback for the report.
