HP+ applied its technical efficiency tool in Kenya and Malawi to identify areas of inefficiency in each country’s family planning program and to develop actionable solutions to improve outputs given limited resources. Working with key family planning stakeholders, the tool helps diagnose, identify, and systematically pursue solutions to inefficiencies around family planning service delivery, demand creation, and program management. The briefs outline areas where efficiencies can be gained to improve utilization of existing resources to strengthen the family planning programs. Solutions are proposed for which the country governments could consider incorporating into existing and future costed implementation plans, strategic health plans, and strategies to support the country’s FP2030 commitments.
