Through the work of an increasing volume of evidence on the benefits of family planning, advocates have succeeded in efforts to improve policy, expand access, and mobilize hundreds of millions of dollars for family planning products and services. Even so, reversals of support and continued opposition to family planning persist among some decisionmakers in some contexts. While not everyone will be persuaded to support family planning, recent advocacy efforts offer insights into factors that help maximize every opportunity. HP+ consolidated recent experiences from advocates, decisionmakers, and implementing partners on what has worked to motivate positive change and compiled 10 tips informed by an online survey, interviews, and a literature review. These tips provide actionable steps to help advocates reach their goals for family planning policy, programming, and funding.
