Given declining donor funding, HP+ worked with Kenya’s AIDS and STI control program, malaria program, and family health department to engage leadership and the national treasury on the need for increased budget allocation to HIV, family planning, and malaria commodities. This brief presents a summary of HP+’s support to build the capacity of the strategic programs in budgeting and advocacy for sustained increase in domestic funding, including helping program teams identify priorities and develop plans and budgets that are supported by evidence. As a result, programs secured government commitment for increased budget allocation to specific commodities. The brief also provides lessons learned and recommendations to sustain increased domestic resource mobilization.
