Engaging the Total Market and Exploring Pathways for a New Injectable (DMPA-SC)

DMPA-SC (also known as Sayana Press) is a safe, effective, and easy-to-use “all-in-one” injectable poised to increase access to family planning and improve method mix for women around the world. HP+ is engaging with stakeholders in countries interested in introducing DMPA-SC to consider a total market approach (TMA) to improve coordination, implementation, and scale-up of the injectable. By asking stakeholders critical questions around context and roles, HP+ aims to create greater equity, increase health impact, and improve sustainability of family planning markets through investments made by all sectors. In addition, HP+ is exploring how DMPA-SC introduction can influence contraceptive use. The program is looking for partners to model the impact that introduction may have on a national family planning program.
