What We Do
HP+ is supporting the West African Health Organization (WAHO) to develop and train the West Africa Health Informatics Team (WAHIT). WAHIT, a team of local health informatics experts, will provide technical leadership and support to ministries of health across the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to strengthen health information systems through local capacity building.
Specifically, WAHIT is:
- Making immediate technical improvements in national and regional digital health information systems
- Building local software developer capacity to support the long-term sustainability of health information system investments
- Helping establish a regional Health Information System Center of Excellence
Together, these efforts aim to fortify the existing health information systems throughout West Africa and build local capacity to better monitor, detect, and prevent future disease outbreaks.
